Gang Rape

Gang Rape
Gang Rape is a big problem in our society. Why do gang members feel the need to rape a random person that did nothing to them? With the help of this website "SA gang rape raises on concepts of masculinity." We will get to the bottom of this. "In April a cell phone video of a 17-year old girl being gang raped by seven men between the ages of 14 and 20 went viral in South Africa." ("SA Gang Rape").
Now why would boys from the age of 14-20 want to rape a young 17 year old girl? What did she ever do? Nothing, that's what she did. The men in the society see it as an opportunity to be in control. The gang sees this as a way to show their masculinity and prove that they are superior. It gives a warning to others in the area to watch out. ("SA Gang Rape").
The pressure put on the young boys to join in to the gangs' rituals is unbearable. "The sorge of sexual violence is not fundamentally an economic problem. It's about unhealthy conceptions of virility that put irrational pressure on young boys and men. Understanding why such violence is happening is not to excuse the perpetrators." ("SA Gang Rape").
This gang rape must stop. It is heart breaking for the family and especially the victim of this hazardous crime. This article gives a good depiction of why the gang members decide to commit this crime. Reducing the gangs in such places of these crimes would surely help this situation.
