Gang Initiation
I found in an article that initiations are a must in gangs. "Many gang members, usually those who are new, are interested in making a name for themselves which leads to bragging about acts of violence or crimes that they may not have committed" ("Gang Initiations").
Top Ten Gang Initiations
1. The 27s. A prison-based gang that requires possible members to stab a white prison warden with a homemade knife. Other random acts of violence are permitted, but this is the traditional route.
2. Sons of Malcolm X. Straightforward, really: murder someone with a .375 magnum.
3. MS-13. Another simple ethic, whereby potential recruits are given a pistol and told to use it. As the gang don't select the victims there are plenty of soft targets, such as women, found dead.
4. Hell's Angels. Candidates must wear a pair of brand new jeans and a jacket with a skull elblem. The clothes - which must be defended to the death - are covered with a bucket of communal **** and piss while the potential member is still wearing them. This might sound gross to you - it's a night out to Evil.
5. The Roto Gang. You don't actually have to do anything here - just watch them disembowel, hack to death and generally mutilate a victim. More of a spectator job this one.
6. The Sharkys. Shootings, though policemen earn extra kudos.
7. The Latin Kings. Seek out rivals from the Gangster Disciples by giving GD hand signals. If the hand signal is returned, they're shot to death.
8. Bloods. Their traditional method - two recruits slash a stranger's face with razors - once led to an estimated 135 mutilations in a month in New York.
9. The Triads. The old classic "Drink a bowl of communal blood" is being geared more towards "drink a bowl of your own blood" in the AIDS era.
10. Junky Funky Kids. Take a 2 minute beating. Even if you're KOed, you're in. How hard can it be? Oh... they use planks, baseball bats, clubs, belts and iron bars.
